State Representative David A. Scribner, Assistant Minority Leader
in the Connecticut General Assembly, first elected in a special
session in 1999, is presently serving his fifth two year term. He
currently serves as Ranking Member (Republican Leader) of the
Transportation Committee, Ranking Member of the Transportation
Bonding Committee, member of the Finance, Revenue & Bonding
Committee, General Bonding Committee, and Public Health Committee.
He has previously served on the Republican Bill Screening Committee,
Planning and Development Committee, Human Services Committee, and
Banks Committee. He has just achieved his 10th consecutive year of a
100% attendance and voting record in General Session.
In addition, Rep. Scribner serves on the state's Public Health
Advisory Committee, is ex-officio member of the State Bond
Commission, and was appointed by Gov. M. Jodi Rell as chairman of
the State Team to Prevent Underage Drinking. He has been named as
Legislator of the Year by the statewide AARP, Legislator of the Year
by the Governor's Prevention Partnership, and was appointed by
Speaker of the House, James Amann to the nationwide Transportation
Committee of the National Council of State Legislators. He was
recently awarded the Public Service Award by WeCAHR.
Locally Representative Scribner serves on the Executive Board of
Directors of the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut, the Board of
Directors of the Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, the Board
of Directors of the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, the Board of
Directors of the Brookfield Historical Society, and as President
Emeritus of the Brookfield Craft Center. He previously served as
statewide President of the Connecticut District Exchange Clubs,
President of the Child Abuse Prevention Centers of Connecticut,
President of the Bethel Exchange Club, Treasurer of the Brookfield
Lion's Club, and member of the Brookfield Jaycees. He is a lifetime
member of the Congregational Church of Brookfield, where he has
served as Deacon, Usher, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and on
the Executive Council. He served as Vice Chairman of the Brookfield
Republican Town Committee where he served as member for eight years.
He has been a parent volunteer in the
Brookfield school system, and volunteer for the American Red Cross,
and the Dorothy Day Hospitality House.
Rep. Scribner is Town Treasurer of the Town of Brookfield, an
elected position he has held since 1995. He previously had a 25 year
career in banking, having served as Vice President of Corporate &
Correspondent Banking for the former Union Trust Company.
A native of Brookfield, Rep. Scribner resides with his wife, Pamela
Kirschbaum Scribner, a native of Bethel, and a special education
teacher, and their three daughters, Kathryn (15), Victoria (11), and
Elizabeth(8).
