Enhancing Agency Outcomes, National Day of Prayer
I want to take this opportunity to invite you to two important events I will be participating in over the next few weeks and I hope you can join me at one - or both!
First, as the General Assembly works to close our state’s massive budget deficit, you can be sure there are countless debates and discussions happening throughout the State Capitol on how best to accomplish that goal. However, I am happy to tell you about an opportunity for you to be a part of those debates and discussions.
I am proud to serve on the newly-formed Commission on Enhancing Agency Outcomes. The Commission was established this year in an effort to redefine state government, both its form and its function. The commission will be taking a look at certain overlaps and redundancies within our government in an effort to eliminate wasteful spending and increase efficiency. We will submit a report on our findings along with recommendations to the Governor by July 1, 2009 and your input is a crucial part of that analysis.
On Thursday, April 30th at 7 p.m. the Commission will be holding a public hearing at Danbury City Hall. I am eager to hear what Connecticut residents have to say about the role of our state government and I hope you can attend the hearing.
I also want to invite you to join me in Hartford on Thursday May 7th for the 58th Annual National Day of Prayer. The Connecticut House of Prayer is hosting the rally at the State Capitol and I am proud to be delivering the keynote address. The National Day of Prayer was established by Congress in 1952 and is traditionally held on the first Thursday of May to encourage Americans to celebrate their faith. The rally will be held outside the North steps of the State Capitol on Thursday, May 7th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
